Storytelling in Nurseries & Schools

“Jane Mather combines a love and deep understanding of nature with well developed storytelling skills which have ensured that her sessions with our children have been extremely beneficial to all.

Jane is charismatic and engaging. She has a gentle and respectful way with the children and encourages them to have a “can do” approach. Her sessions are very interactive with lots of laughter and participation. Jane’s inputs are always developmentally appropriate and she thinks on her feet, ensuring the reciprocal exchange between listener and storyteller informs the session and allows it to remain dynamic and fun.”

Diane Palmer, Head Teacher & Valerie Henry, Depute Head Teacher Buckstone Primary School

I offer story sessions for Nurseries and Primary schools with funny stories and songs for young ones and stories connecting with curricular themes and topics for older children: Traditional Scottish folk and faerie tales, nature stories, Halloween tales, trickster tales, stories of friendship, bears, magical forests and more…Story sessions help raise attainment in literacy and benefit many other aspects of the curriculum for excellence, such as the expressive arts, health and wellbeing, sciences and social studies.

As a qualified Forest School Leader I facilitate sessions in nature so children have the experience of imagining the wild environment as a story landscape which works well from Nursery upwards.

I also offer story making workshops: Where children are supported to develop their own stories and grow in confidence.
